Fret Leveling

When notes begin to buzz or fret out, or when divots appear in the fret tops, which is especially common in the 2nd - 3rd fret area, it becomes necessary to level the frets to make them all equal in height. We level, recrown, and then polish the frets on a buffer for the ultimate in playability and appearance. This operation requires that a setup be done after as all the previous adjustments will have become obsolete, and those old action settings where based on the previous condition of the frets.

$100 + setup

* Note * It is not uncommon for customers to bring in brand new guitars, American and import to do a cursory fret leveling to "true up" the frets, and enable the lowest possible action, and make the guitar easier to play. Fret work is the most overlooked, and most poorly done operation on most production guitars, because it requires highly skilled people and is costly and time consuming.

Refret

Refrets start at $200 for bolt on guitars without neck binding. Binding requires a completely different approach to refretting, as the frets have to be prepped individually to fit within the binding. This is labor intensive. Bolt on guitars are much easier to refret as well for a number of reasons, including having to mask off the body on neck thru or set neck guitars ala' Jackson Soloist or Gibson Les Paul guitars. As with fret leveling, refret requires a setup afterword.

• Guitar or Bass no binding  $250

• Guitar or Bass with binding  $300

*All refrets require the addition of a setup*

*Disclaimer* We will not be responsible for chipping on laquered or poly finished Fender™ style necks. Fender and others spray these finishes over the frets and frequently the nut as well. This requires scoring around the frets and or nut with a razor blade to try to get a clean break when removing the frets / nut. It is virtually impossible to do this without some chipping of clear around these areas. We do go to great lengths however to minimize chipping. The nut has to be removed for refret work and we will not be responsable for breaking of the nut during removal. Although again as with chipping of the finish we try our best to remove the nut without damage but sometimes this is not possible.

Make New Nut

Nut blank options:

Plastic - The standard nut material. Allows for a fairly warm tone

Graphite - Best choice for non locking tremolo equipped guitars as it is "self lubricating" and helps keep

the strings from binding in the slots when the tremolo is dumped.

Bone - Provides a brighter tone than plastic or graphite and is extremely durable

• Brass - Provideds the brightest tone

Price for making / installing nut including the blank $55 + setup

New nut requires a setup! The nut slot depths are dependent upon how much relief is the neck.
