BURNED STRAT PROJECT

Years ago in the early 90's I saw in ad in one of the guitar mags for a Zoom processor. The ad featured a photo of Dweezle Zappa playing an old beat up strat. It said "Burned by Jimi Hendrix, played by Dweezle Zappa". I always thought the Hendrix burned Dweezle Zappa Strat was the coolest thing and I had this body laying around so I torched it. I did it with lighter fluid and tride to mimick the way Hendrix did it in the Monterey video.

The body is a 2005 Fender American Strat body. The neck is one that had been hanging around the shop for years and was a custom order that the customer abandoned. Having a reversed headstock, it was perfect for this Hendrix Strat project. It is more San Dimas Charvel than Fender. It has our thin D profile. 12' radius, 22 tall/thin frets "ala' Van Halen", 1 5/8" nut width, and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The hardware is an Original Floyd Rose, ESP left handed tuning machines. The pickguard is an old celluloid tortous shell that is worn and slightly shrunken which they do with age. The pickups are a Seymour Duncan Screamin Demon, and a pair of Fender Custom shop single coils. One is a Fat 50's and the other a Classic 60's.

I/m very happy with the way it turned out. It just goes tro show you can always find something cool to do with those parts you have laying around! It has shredder playability and vintage vibe! You wont walk into guitar center and find anything as unique or that plays like this!
